This is it for the weird/crazy today, I promise.

Belmont Abbey College, a Roman Catholic Private College, was found to have discriminated against college employees by denying them health care coverage for contraceptives by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.  They also were found to have retaliated against any employees who complained about the discriminatory coverage.

Odd that a PRIVATE Roman Catholic employer should be required to provide birth control when it is contrary to their religion. Even stranger considering that I don’t believe private employers are even required to provide health care.

Well religious institutions CAN discriminate – when it comes to hiring clergy and people with religious/spiritual influence. Denying the ladies medicine doesn’t fall under the areas that by federal law are allowed to be subject to discimination.
