A sigh of relief for many in the Middle East

June 7, 2009

Early returns show Hezbollah defeated:

We have lost the election. We accept the result as the will of the people.

The next big test comes this Friday in Iran.  I have to say, rhetoric like this coming from Ahmadinejad’s biggest competitor, Mir Hossein Mousavi, is promising:

Mousavi said Ahmadinejad’s denial of the Holocaust had cost Iran much international standing. “Tell me, who are our friends in the region?” he asked the president. Mousavi said the country had became internationally isolated.

And by promising, I mean at least the Iranian people will have what appears to be a logical president, and not Ahmadine-crazy.
